Feed
The Feed section manages feeding and nutrition for the horses at your facility. Use it to record what each horse is fed, supplements and medications it receives, when those items are administered, and how often they repeat. Everyone on your team can then view an up-to-date feed schedule by day, by week, or as a list.
Feed is available on the Essential plan and above. Access is controlled by feed permissions; see Users & Permissions to manage who can view or edit feed.
What the Feed section manages
Each feed entry assigns a product to one or more horses with a quantity, a unit, the time(s) of day it is given, and an optional repeat schedule. Entries are grouped into four types:
| Type | Used for |
|---|---|
| Feed | Grain, hay, and other feed products |
| Supplement | Nutritional supplements |
| Medication | Medications given on the feeding schedule |
| Show Medication | Medications given specifically around shows |
Choosing a view
A filter bar at the top of the Feed page lets you switch how the schedule is displayed. The View Type options are:
| View | What it shows |
|---|---|
| Single Day | A grid of feeding for the selected day, organized by administration time |
| Weekly | The full week (Sunday through Saturday) for the selected week |
| List | A flat list of feed entries for the selected day |
Additional filters let you narrow what you see:
- Day — pick the date (shown in Single Day and List views).
- Week — pick the week, listed as a date range starting on Sunday (shown in Weekly view).
- Horse — show all horses or a single horse.
- Type of Feed — show all types, or just Feed, Supplements, Medication, or Show Medication (not available in List view).
- Feeding Notes — a checkbox to show or hide feeding notes on the schedule.
When you open a single horse's feed schedule from the horse profile, the schedule is already scoped to that horse.
Creating a feed entry
If you have edit access, select Create Entry in the page header. In the form:
- Select one or more Horses, or turn on Add to all horses to apply the entry to every horse.
- Choose the Type (Feed, Supplement, Medication, or Show Medication).
- Choose a Product. Start typing to pick from your existing products, or type a new name and select Add "..." to create a product on the fly. Choosing an existing product fills in its brand; for a new product you can enter the Brand.
- Set the Date, Quantity, and Unit. Unit options depend on the type (for example Scoop, Pound, Flake, Cup for Feed), and you can type a custom unit if needed.
- Add optional Notes using the rich-text editor.
- Turn on Repeat to schedule the entry on a recurring basis (see below).
- Select one or more Time options — AM, Noon, PM, or Night Check. At least one time is required.
- Select Create.
Repeating entries
When Repeat is on, set how often the entry recurs:
- Repeats every a number of Units — Daily, Weekly, or Monthly.
- For Weekly, pick the Days of the week (MO–SU).
- For Monthly, pick the dates of the month (1–31).
- Ends — choose Never, or On Date and set an End Date.
Editing and deleting entries
- To edit an entry, open it from the schedule and make your changes in the same form (titled Update Entry), then select Update.
- To delete an entry, use the delete action and confirm. If an entry is scheduled for more than one time of day, deleting one time removes just that time; deleting the last remaining time removes the entry.
You need edit access to create, update, or delete feed entries.
Per-horse tools
When the schedule is filtered to a single horse, two extra actions appear in the header:
- View Change Log — see the history of feed additions, changes, and removals for that horse. See Feed Products & Reports.
- Notifications — choose which team members are notified when this horse's Feed, Supplements, or Medications change. You can select specific users or turn on Notify all active users.
