Calendar events and records often detail the same information. However, records allow for attachment storage and can be searched and filtered quite differently than Calendar events.

To avoid duplicating the work of entering the same information in both places, you can set a Calendar event to auto-generate a record after the event is complete. Once the record is generated, you can edit that record to add attachments or update any information transferred from the Calendar event details.

Please note that auto-generating records from a calendar event are not available for all event types. It IS available for the following event types:

  • Vet

  • Farrier

  • Dentist

  • Vaccination

  • Medication

  • Dewormer

  • Other

It is not available for Show and Lesson events.

To auto-generate a record from an event:

  1. Navigate to the Calendar or Events tab of a horse's profile.

  2. Select "Add an Event" or choose an existing event that you wish to edit and click the Edit link/icon.

  3. Select one of the event types that are eligible for auto-generating a record (see above).

  4. Check the box to Auto Generate Record.

  5. Enter any other information that you wish to record.

  6. Click "Add" or "Save"

The day after the event is scheduled, you will see the record of the event paper in your Records and the Records of the horse(s) listed on the calendar event. You can edit these records just like any other record.

***NOTE: For repeating events, this feature will only impact future instances of the repeating event. This includes the current date and any future dates. Past instances WILL NOT have records generated even if you have selected the option to edit ALL instances of the event.
